Polymers comprise the largest revenue sector and these are used for the production of packaging, plastics, construction products, toys, etc. Products include PVC, polypropylene, polystyrene and man-made fibres such as polyester and nylon. Polymers are derived from petrochemicals.

Petrochemicals are also used in the manufacture of ethylene, benzene, toluene, methanol and xylenes amongst others.

Inorganic chemicals also fit into this sector and this includes the manufacture of chlorine, caustic soda, acids, titanium dioxide and hydrogen peroxide for example.

Fertilisers are the smallest area in this sector and this includes the production of phosphates, potash and ammonia chemicals.

Speciality Chemicals are a growing market with high end innovation. This sector includes the manufacture of industrial coatings, cleaning chemicals, catalysts, industrial gases, pigments, inks, adhesives, sealants and electronic chemicals.

Life Science  chemical production includes the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, animal health products, vitamins, diagnostic products and pesticides. This highly regulated industry also incorporates large research and development facilities.

Consumer Products - chemicals are required in the production of the consumer products we use every day for example soaps, detergents and cosmetics .
